9/12/07 – Our Vision for Our Community #2

We have been looking at this statement declaring the vision for our parish community:

We, the parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Wentworthville, cherish the gift of belonging to a worshipping faith community.  We seek to love and serve God as members of the Carmelite family.

Clearly our parish is a Carmelite Family Parish.  For fifty-one years the Carmelite Friars have had the responsibility of ministering to our parish community.  During that time they have shared something of themselves and their order with us.  It is quite fitting then, that any vision for the future of our parish includes our belonging to the Carmelite family. Thus, the second part of our vision statement explores this:

We strive to be a Carmelite Family Parish

Therefore we will:

  • Provide opportunities for prayer and spiritual reflection
  • Support all in their personal faith journey
  • Continue to seek spiritual guidance from our Carmelite community
  • Look to each other as examples of living faith
  • Enrich our faith through ongoing formation

This part of our vision statement, developed through consultation of parishioners via our survey and parish meeting, explores the place of people’s faith in their lives.  It considers how our faith may be strengthened and nourished.  It also suggests how the formation and expression of our faith is unique in this Carmelite Family Parish.
