Last week I told you that I would give feedback on our recent survey and parish meeting. These had the aim of allowing parishioners to share hopes, ideas and dreams for the future. The results are very encouraging.
We begin looking this week at the results of our survey. Very positive responses were received, which were collated and summarised to produce A Vision for Our Parish Community of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Wentworthville. Look for the yellow sheets on the literature stand in the parish centre if you wish to see the full document.
The opening statement of the vision document is this:
We, the parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Wentworthville, cherish the gift of belonging to a worshipping faith community. We seek to love and serve God as members of the Carmelite family.
This statement reflects the general tenor of the survey responses, namely that:
- Belonging to a friendly, loving community that supports, welcomes and encourages all is extremely important to parishioners
- We have been enriched by the unique and valuable contribution of the Carmelite Friars over the past fifty-plus years
- We are united by our faith and are drawn together regularly through our participation in the liturgical celebrations of the Church
- Our faith challenges us to serve all whom we encounter.
This statement also reflects our desires to build on this solid foundation for future. We will explore this further in the coming weeks.
