About the Media Ministry

The media minister cooperates with the music ministers in leading the assembly in song. The displaying of hymn lyrics on the projection screen is vital for the assembly so that they may participate in the music.  It may also involve from time to time managing the projection of other media elements before, during or after the liturgy.

Computer operators need to be familiar with the Order of Mass and with Microsoft PowerPoint, and be aware of the need to advance slides at suitable times which result in minimal disruption to the singing of the hymn. Media ministers also need to be present at least five minutes before the beginning of the liturgy.

Other media ministers compile the projection slide files required for Mass.  This requires coordinating with music groups to add their music selections, and any other particular prayer texts, to the parish templates prepared for each feast day.  Again, familiarity with the Order of Mass and Microsoft PowerPoint is essential.
